7th World Muslim Health Societies Congress & Fair held in Ankara
The 7th World Muslim Health Societies Congress & Fair was conducted with Oncology & Health Technologies 4.0 theme on December 15-16.
At the congress opening ceremony, Congress President Prof. Dr. Doğan Ünal emphasized that approaching cancer from a scientific angle along with problems of cancer patients and their companions will be discussed with these words: “Even though there are very successful oncologic results thanks to advanced diagnosis and treatment Technologies, moral and materiel support of patients and their companions are waiting for non-governmental organization’s mercy.” In order to emphasize that perspective and revive, we are glad to get together at the 7th World Muslim Health Societies Congress with 400 participants from various regions around the World along with Türkiye.”
Secretary General of World Islamic Health Union Spec. Dr. Abdullatif Faslı mentioned WIHU’s success; “WIHU has founded in 2016 by non-governmental organizations’ participation which is from 65 countries. In 2022, WIHU reached 96 with other countries' participation. So that WIHU joined the international institutions which are active in the health field. I would like to express my gratitude to all WIHU representatives in 96 countries for their great efforts. We want to announce all WIHU activities to all World Muslims and countries in need through bilateral scientific relations in 2023 with the 100. Year celebrations in new century Türkiye. We are aiming for a fair, healthy, and peaceful World in the future.
During his speech, Ankara Province Mufti Dr. Hasan Çınar mentioned the importance of patience with our prophet’s Hz Muhammed (s.a.v.) hadith which is related to cancer. “5 people count as a martyr. The person who dies in fire is a martyr, the person who drowned is a martyr, a mother who dies during the birth, a person who dies from being buried in the wreckage and fatal disease is a martyr.”
WIHU founder member and Öz-Sağlık İş Union chairman Devlet SERT mentioned the congress importance. “It is exciting to see the society members from all around the World at Muslim Health Societies Congress which is the 7th time this year. We are making the opening speech and invited as “founder member” for such a congress, getting us more excited. I wish that Muslim Health Societies Congress would be beneficial for all congress members, our societies who carry the banner of Muslim geography, and our establishments that act with ummah consciences trying to make the World a more liveable place.”
World Islamic Health Union members, which has representatives in 96 countries followed the hybrid congress online. 9 panels and a Health entrepreneurship competition were performed in congress. In panels discussed cancer from the scientific and social sides. Panel titles were: Cancer in the World, Social Problems of Oncology Patients and Solutions, Preventing from Cancer, Cancer Diagnosis Methods, Cancer Treatment Centers, Current Affairs in Oncology in the World and Türkiye, Integrative Care in Oncology, Integrative and Traditional Medicine in Oncology Patients.Featured panel titles were: Cancer in the World, Psychosocial Problems of Cancer Patients and Their Relatives, and Families Exhaustion Situations, Tobacco and Tobacco Products Control Program, Radiation Oncology Centers and Proton Treatment, Palliative Care Center, Ozone Therapy Implementations in Cancer Patients were performed. In this hybrid congress, 51 panelists from domestic and foreign Cancer discussed all its parts.
Hackathon Event, which was moderated by WIHU Council Member Dr. Yavuz Selim Sılay, was completed by more than 40 international participants English presentations, 40 international jury and investors participation, and hybrid considerations. Entrepreneurs and mentors were thrown together on-site and online in Ankara’s first international hybrid Ideathon and Startup event.
Cancer treatment suggestions took place in congress final declaration which was read by WIHU Universities Council President Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ural. “Including human resources, national health systems, and international cooperations must be developed. Suitable technology for safe, high-quality, cost-effective, and on-time drugs, medical products, and surgery for preventing cancer, diagnosis, scanning, and treatment must be provided. Cancer management regimes along with palliative care must be created and implemented on the proof for adults and children. For the specific cancer treatment and perfection centers, we need strongly underline the cooperation, and develop regional and sub-regional cooperation and networks when necessary.
